Swarovski® crystals - How to ensure you are getting the real thing
?
Swarovski® (Swore-off-ski) crystal components are regarded
as the highest quality machine cut and polished crystal beads in the
world. The demand for luxury products unfortunately can create a host of
imitators. Here are some tips that can help you determine which crystals
are genuine Swarovski®.
The precision cutting of Swarovski®
machinery allows each crystal to have its facet juncture "pointing
up". This means the facet junctures all meet at precisely the same
point. This is a similar aspect of diamond faceting. Refer
to the illustration.
Swarovski® crystals are perfectly
uniform. Since they are machine cut, each crystal is the same. This
means that the height, width and
slope are consistent. A hand polished imitator bead will
not have as uniform a cut. You may also notice different dimensions
from bead to bead.
The Swarovski® company creates it’s glass with a
special compound that imitators cannot duplicate.
This special compound creates the incredible brilliance of their
product.
Because of its special glass compounds, Swarovski®
crystal will out-sparkle a bead of lesser quality when placed in a
side-by-side comparison.
The delicate color palette is another quality
that sets Swarovski® crystal components apart from
others.
Swarovski® crystal
pearls
Swarovski® crystal pearls are perfect man-made imitations of natural
pearls, but available in a wide range of beautiful colours. The colour
is achieved by an innovative Swarovski® technique of applying a
pearl coating over a crystal core to ensure a flawless finish.
Swarovski® crystal pearls adjust to skin temperature. These pearls are
abrasion-proof, resistant to perfume, UV light, perspiration, mild acids
& alkalis, and
will not fade.
Care
of Kahurangi Jewellery
Unlike some other types of jewellery, due to the durability of the
components, no special care is required. A wipe over occasionally with a
cloth moistened with a mild detergent is all that is required to
maintain the bling. We also recommend sterling silver chains be given an
occasional rub with a jewellery cleaning cloth. These can be
purchased from us. We also recommend that if your jewellery is not
being worn for extended periods, that it be stored in an air-tight
jewellery box or a plastic zip-loc bag.
Business Opportunities
Opportunities exist throughout Australia & English speaking countries
world-wide for retail outlets to become agents for Kahurangi
Creations jewellery. Suitable outlets are fashion accessory shops, jewellery
shops, gift shops and beauty salons.
